King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters

Gaming, Movie Review, February 2008

King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (gaming) / 41NSgA6d7cL. SL160 A surprisingly entertaining documentary considering the subject matter. Later investigation reveals that maybe the producers fudged the truth a bit, but it’s hard to argue when their version of the story is so much more fun to watch. It’s less about video games and high scores than it is about being an outsider who is trying to break into a long-established social clique.

Your Comment:

Like all of Gibson’s films, I really enjoyed this. It is actually a far simpler story than I expected, keeping the focus on the personal trials of Jaguar Paw — it seems misleading when people describe this film as an “epic.” A very exciting, yet moving, film.

It’s more about goblins than it is about fairies, with some fun and thrilling scares for the family. I really hope they make more!
