War of the Worlds

Movie Review, August 2007

War of the Worlds (movie review) / 51NARTB1P1L. SL160 This was great, but I’m still waiting for someone to make it set in the same time period as the original book. If you’re going to modernize the story, do it on the cheap with camcorders like The Blair Witch Project.

Your Comment:

It wasn’t the fantasy film you might expect from the advertisements; it was something much better. A film about friendship, dreams and dealing with loss. A must-see for anyone with kids six or older.

I particularly liked how George Lucas set up the Yoda vs. Darth Sidious and Obi-Wan vs. Anakin battles, and the juxtaposition at the end where shots of Darth Vader being put into the suit are interwoven with shots of Padme giving birth to the twins.
