Do you remember the kids’ book? It’s a simple little tale, but upon re-reading it in advance of seeing the film, I saw Max as a frowning, potentially angry little boy (in so far as you can read-in to the meaning of the images). The big screen version of Where The Wild Things Are takes [...]
The lastest Worms game was released this week on Xbox Live; I’m still a sucker for this game, even though I’ve been playing it since the first release on Amiga way back in 1994… it never really seems to get old to me. Although they’ve called it Worms 2: Armageddon, it shouldn’t be confused with [...]
Pixar’s latest film, Up, isn’t the studio’s greatest, but it was a heartwarming odd-couple adventure… especially for dog lovers. Definitely worth seeing in 3D, which added a lot to the peril of some of the high-flying adventure. The film was something a little different from Pixar; a bit more understated with more of a tug [...]
A fine family adventure film — particularly enjoyed Ronan’s performance. Alas, the plot was just a tad shallower than I would have hoped.
It’s sort of like Ice Age in that it focuses on just three characters (plus a “Scrat”) — but with a more interesting premise and much better visuals. This French CGI film is likely going to fly under the North American radar, but definitely worth seeing if you (or your kids) like [...]
I went into this thinking that it was the kind of story I would love as a child of the 80s (and fan of Silent Running, E.T., Short Circuit, Romie-0 and Julie-8, etc.), but the film turned out to be overrated. It was a solid Pixar story (and better than Cars), but [...]
A great sequel for the family, sure to please anyone who enjoyed the first film. It diverges from the book a bit more, but in good ways: to add more action and excitement. I loved the dwarves and the griffons the most, and didn’t mind all the homages to the Lord of [...]
It’s more about goblins than it is about fairies, with some fun and thrilling scares for the family. I really hope they make more!

It wasn’t the fantasy film you might expect from the advertisements; it was something much better. A film about friendship, dreams and dealing with loss. A must-see for anyone with kids six or older.

Favourite moment: Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon vs. Darth Maul. The best lightsaber choreography of all six movies.

An infinitely rewatchable timeless classic. Mandy Patinkin steals the show as Inigo Montoya. You killed his father. Prepare to die.
Part of me always wondered if the title was supposed to be “The Princeless Bride”.

Awesome film, unfortunately overshadowed by the Harry Potter series… if you believe in fairies, see this!
